I have done alot of reading regarding just about every component that goes into most computers and I know which type of component is best for certain things and whatnot, but alot of the time the most basic questions are never answered. For example, I could go on about why using an SLI video card is beneficial, but I could not tell you exactly what an SLI slot is. I figured it would be easiest to just make a list of questions instead of making you go back and pull them out of this paragraph. Thank you for any input. You guys are the best at helping noobs learn about everything computer related by giving not only a direct answer, but also a clear answer and usually some lame analogy that explains everything perfectly. Don't let me down now!

- What are some popular motherboards that support SLI cards?
- I see that alot of people run dual video cards, is this possible with 2 SLI cards?
- If yes, what are some popular motherboards that support this?
- If no, what types of of video cards are they doing this with?
- Do SLI cards connect directly into a slot like an AGP card?
- This is where I get really confused. Someone told me something about SLI cards being put in PCI slots and then you run a cable from the card to the SLI slot. Please explain this as best as possible if you can.

Without knowing the answer to these questions all of the other knowledge I have is basically useless. Thank you for your time.
 
The cards install into PCI-E slots. The motherboard comes with a little bridge adapter that connects the 2 cards together.

Once you install the drivers from the disc with the video cards something will pop up saying you have dual cards and ask if you want to use them, if so put a check in the first box and hit apply.

(Just built an SLi rig myself using an ASUS A8N SLi Premium motherboard my cards were a pair of FeGoforce 7800 GTX OC by BFG Tech.)
