EDIT: To get an idea of where I got the idea, head over to hardocp and look for Steve's post for Friday, August 20th. Under Cases and Modding look at the article called Hummer2 RC Mod @ Bit-Tech. On page 6 if memory serves me right are a few pics of a Microsoft Wireless Natural Multimedia keyboard. The guy placed three cold cathode rings in the bottom. My idea was to take his idea but use LEDs powered off the batteries instead. I used to have a link in this post but in the interest of not making anyone else angry at me I removed it.

What I want to know is do any of you guys and gals know of a few decent places to get LEDs? I'm looking for smaller LEDs than the standard size used for Power lights on cases, in fans etc. I'm trying to avoid 5mm or 3mm LEDs.

After a miscommunication on my part to jpmkm (Once again, sorry for lashing out), the FAQ doesn't have exactly what I'm looking for. I don't want to replace LEDs in the keyboard, I'm wanting to add them in. I just want to know if anyone has a site that they found helpfull to pruchase LEDs from particularly if they're surface mount or smaller than 3mm.

You know, they don't call it a FAQ just because it sounds cool.

:D I'd tell you my place but I'm pretty sure the FAQ covers it.

Taken directly from the FAQ:

LEDs: Keyboard LEDs
http://www.virtual-hideout.net/guid...led/index.shtml
http://www.themodfathers.jolt.co.uk...on=show&id=6128

These articles deal with replacing pre-existing LEDs in the keyboard with new ones. That's not what I want to do. I'm adding LEDs underneath the keys of my keyboard, the keys are translucent.

I already know how I want to do it, I'm asking for a site or two that people know of to get LEDs that are smaller than 3mm. I haven't had much luck myself finding a site.

I don't think you can get standard leds smaller than 3mm. You will probably have to go smt. If you look a bit further in the faq you will find lsdiodes.com and ledtronics.com, which was really what I was trying to tell you when I said to check the faq.

edit: I found some 1.8mm leds at eled.com.

That's what I was looking for! :D
