a couple things on VFDs, please help

Wayne, it looks like you got yourself way over your head.

The invertort will be near impossible to find, and even if you DO find one...do you know where it hooks up? The invertors are all different, and they are not compatible with other brands of LCDs.

Also, when you say you stripped it down to the bare LCD, can you describe in more detail? I am picturing a piece of glass with legs on it, cause technically, that would be the bare LCD.
 
it came with a sorta a casing that held the LCD... i figured they pulled the whole thing from some component... this is what it looks like before i took it apart.. sry for crappy pics, i was a lil too close

the bare LCD included the glass with legs on it attached to a PCB with micro controllers on it including HD44780 and also 16 pins

Leave it just the way you got it and make a cable for it. It'll plug into the LPT port. There's a diagram in the FAQ to help you.

I suggest cutting a 25-pin to 25-pin cable in half. That'll give you 2 shots at it.

well, so far... i found those PCI plates with joystick/printer ports.. pulled out of really old computers.. their cabling is like IDE cables but thinner with about 15 wires and 25 wires ones.... i tried the 15 wired one because it had a socket but i soon realized it wasnt 16 wires so now im going with the 25 wires one...

i did read the FAW and i pretty much understood most of it but i m just asking if theres anything i should know before i try this
