I have 2x512 corsair xms that just went bad apparently and while i send that back to get replaced i wanted to know if i went out and bought some other ddr400 non corsair and most likely not the same timing, if that would affect performance in a big way.

so basically can i mix timings without a big hit to performance

EDIT
oh.. and if i can mix a 1 gig stick with my 2x512 sticks in a ga-k8u-939 gigabyte

it won't effect performance significantly, and most likely it won't run with 1gb + 2x512mb. i have seen some revE cpu's do things like that, but if board support is lacking, it won't happen
