A+ certification advice.

I am thinking about going for my A+ certification. I know it's not as respected these days, but I work for the IT department at my university, and they pay for the certs so I figured what the hell. It couldn't hurt the ole resume. Anyways, what books/publishers would you guys recommend? I would like to get ONE book that has all the necessary study info(material, study guides, practice tests, etc) for both the OS and hardware test. Also let me know if there are any books/publishers to stay away from. Thanks a lot.
 
Exam Cram books tend to be pretty good for stuff like this; I generally stay away from Dummies' books (A+ for Dummies was the textbook for a 'class' I took, and I call it a class like you'd call a Yugo a 'car').
 
the A+ cert is a joke, anyone can memorise that stuff and that cert doesn't have you learn ANYTHING that is used a lot in the real world. I hate seeing some random company who wants entry level people have the A+ cert, that company is better off just during the hiring processes asking certain questions and maybe having the canidate demo something they think he should know if she/he wants the job.

The proof is in the act and knowledge not in a stupid piece of paper
 
Why is it so impossible to answer a simple question about an A+/Net+ Cert without taking a giant shit all over them? All you're doing is regurgitating the same crap that's been posted here a million times before, and it happens every.single.time.

To the OP: I'm a fan of Mike Meyers' books. They're well written and easy to read.
 
why can't someone post something about counter-strike, or macs, or aol etc.. and not get shit?!?!? because I lot of people don't like it
