Right now I'm using some Logitech z-680s their nice and all but the sound quality is just not cutting it for me it's time to upgrade.

I'm going to be connecting my xbox 360, PC and eventually PS3 to them. I rarely use my computer for listening to music so they will be used for probably 50% games 50% movies.

Thanks in advance

IMO: go to a speaker shop and listen to some speakers.

I would look into those insignia's, and the polk r150's and their matching center / a decent sub.

CountChoculaBot pretty much covered the best bang for the buck option. I've been using the older Onkyo sr504 with a pair of Ascend speakers in stereo for a while and my pc sounds great. Just make sure you have room to put the Insignias in the back. I went to BB to check them out and they were a lot bigger than I expected.

Thanks for the replys

@CountChoculaBot
You suggest I use 3 Insignias for the front. If I want to buy some speakers for the back for surround sound should I just buy 2 more Insignias?

He meant 3 pairs of the Insignias, with 1 as a backup I guess.

He can run 6.1, which is what I do. I have 2 pairs of insignias to fill out the surround functions and they do the job very well. I think I'm ready to do some modifications to them, though.

Right now I have my rear speakers mounted to the ceiling and those Insignias look too big to do that.

Height 18-3/10"
Width 12-1/5"
Weight 13.3 lbs

Is there any way I can mount them to the ceiling as well? Or should I get some smaller satellites for the back. They would have to go on the ceiling because there is no room for any speaker stands or anything like that.

Here are some alternate choices that either have rear mounting hardware, or are just plain small:

- BA CR65B: http://www.buy.com/retail/product.asp?sku=205061425

- AR ARXP52: http://www.mcmelectronics.com/product.asp?product_id=58-12295 (has rear-mounting hardware, and a flat frequency response with low distortion)

- Athena and Boston Acoustics micro: http://www.audioadvisor.com/products.asp?dept=49&sort_on=title&sort_by=&view_all=true (low liquidation prices)

- Mission M70S: http://www.tsto.com/cgi-bin/TSTO.storefront/47d34a54000d6c242740ac10034105de/Product/View/2191 (liquidation price, flat frequency response, rear-mount keyholes)

Thanks for the reply.

What about for the sub and center channel?
Dayton Sub-100 like countchocula linked above. It's been awhile now but it used to go on sale often for around $110 shipped, or so.

You can google for matching center channels, or you can just use a spare bookshelf as a center channel, preferably upright but it can also be laid on it's side. Buying three pairs of speakers will also leave you a spare, which is good for a 6.1 configuration.

Edit: a lot of those websites i posted also have matching center channels elsewhere on the site.
