I just recieved this HSF the other day, and slapped it (with some arctic silver) on my C2D. My load temps went down 8-10C. This thing performs like a $30+ cooler, for $13. Food for thought, considering tomshardware's recent roundup determined that a lot of more expensive coolers are pretty much just expensive paperweights.

Edit: I'm pretty sure it's quieter than the stock fan, too.

It's a rebadged Akasa AK-965 with a PWM fan, best deal going for 775 coolers (aside from the Xigmatech in the upper range). I needed just an improvement over the aluminum crap Allendale stock sink and I couldn't pass it up. Although I lapped mine, it doesn't really need it. Mine was only a tad convex which according to ThermalRight mates more completely with the concave IHS of 775 chips, but my chip is going to be naked so I lapped it and replaced the godawful plastic clips with 6/32 fittings. The base came also finished fairly well, a sort of semi-matte smoothness to it. Machining marks were almost all at the extreme edges. Haven't been able to get results yet as this damn motherboard will not POST and my house is in disarray because I've been painting walls.

Yeah, I changed from the stock Allendale cooler to this, and my prime95 temps went from 55-57C to 40-51C, depending on the probe used. If I up the voltage on my system, I am able to boot at 3.4Ghz now, but I have no real reason to.

argh! wish I had seen this earlier! I got me an extra 120mm fan which I'm not sure where i'm putting in my antec sonata III. Would be better than the stock HSF i'm getting with my e2180. Well I guess I have to save up my pesos to buy this thing.

I'm amazed at the newegg reviews - 27ppl, and 0 "very poor", 0 "poor" and 1 "average" .. amazing!

there's almost always at least 1 person (out of a population >20) that looks at a product, has some random failure of understanding (is this clip's paint defective?) and takes their frustration out in the review

Impressive stuff guys. Between this and the Xigmatek 1283, I don't think I'd bother with much else on the market. I wish this mobo would cooperate so I can see how well mine cools.
