just something small, but has been irking me for a while.

lets say i have something like this

let say i got a list of numbers from A1:A4 and B1:B4. On cell A5 i have =sum(A1:A4), On cells C1:C4 i have a formula that need to use cell A5 as a constant such as =A5*C1 + A1

now the problem is that if i drag that first cell on column C down to C4.. the number in A5 will also move down and will not give me that constant number that i want.

How do i keep A5 from changing and staying as a constant for all my calculations

I hope that wasnt to hard to follow!
 
I think you use $A$5....I think if you use $X$Y when putting into a formula it's an absolute path.
