A bit different request... TI-89 display problems

Hello, I have been using a TI-89 calculator for the past couple of years in school. However, about 6 months ago, at random times or when I held the calculator in a certain way, the right half of the screen would go blank. I would have to hit it or bend it to make it come back on. Now, not even hitting it turns the right side back on.

I was wondering if anyone could tell me what might be wrong. Might it be a loose cable of some sort inside the calculator? Also, do you think TI would replace the calculator for this reason? Thanks for your help.

EDIT: I forgot to mention, when the calculator is initially turned on, the right side of the display works perfectly for half a second... Then it fades out to blankness.
