Hi everyone, I will make my question short. I am looking to play Witcher 3 on ultra settings at 1440p on my QNIX monitor. Will 970 be sufficient for ultra settings or should I purchase two 980s? I am upgrading from a gtx 690 that Ive had for a few years. I didnt want to upgrade anything in my pc until next year, but it doesnt look like I am going to make it. I have a 2500k overclocked at 4.4ghz. Any help is appreciated.

Personal opinion: neither. Wait just a little longer for 980ti to show itself.

It should give performance and price similar to SLI 970 is right now, plus you avoid the SLI issues such as lack of MFAA.

I have an FT02B case and a 1000w cooler master psu. I'm just wondering if 970sli would be good enough to carry me into the next generation at the end of this year or beginning of next year when I replace my ram/mobo/cpu. I really want to play witcher 3 and dont want to do it on my ps4. What if I got a used sli pair of 970 or 980. Would they be good value then? Even with the 980ti coming?

Depends on how much you paid for them. WIth used pricing, you don't really know ahead of time.

If you must have as much performance as possible with zero care to price and can't wait for the 980Ti, the 980 SLI route is your best bet.

If you want the most bang for the buck option can and cannot wait for the 980Ti, then go with the 970 SLI route.

I ended up ordering a vanilla 980ti straight from the nvidia site. It should arrive tomorrow. I will begin my Witcher journey then. Can't wait. Thanks for the advice everyone.
