I want a new graphics card to upgrade from my current GeForce 4 Ti4800SE, but I'm not sure which to go for. I have seen the 9800xt for £190 and the x800pro for £300, obviously I know that the x800 pro is a far better card, I'm just not sure whether its worth the extra £110. I mainly want it for playing upcoming games like doom 3 and half life 2. Any thoughts?

if you can afford the x800 then go for it...it will keep you going for a fair while longer than the 9800 by miles...

Well I recon the X800 is worth the extra £110. ;) But noone knows how these new cards will go in Doom3 until the benchies are out?But intial reports say that even these cards wont be able to run mx detail? So i would just hang back until the benchies are out for Doom3 and then make your choice ;)

Thanks guys, i've just found the x800 pro for £270 at simply.co.uk so I think I'll probably go for that.

My previous 9800 XT did about 6700 in 3dmark03 (default settings). In the same system, an X800 pro (overclocked) does 11500, and an X800 XT does 12500.

The same pattern is evident in demanding modern games like Far Cry: the X800 pro is about 80% faster than the 9800 XT, while the X800 XT is twice as fast as the 9800 XT.

To me, these are pretty good reasons to upgrade...
