9800x2 still a good option over a 4870? Been thinking of giving my kid my 8800ultra but still want a nice card for me. Only have a p35 chip set and don’t want to get a new MB for CF or sLi. (With the new chip socket coming out soon it would be dumb to me) I’m using a 24” LCD. Looking at all the reviews the 9800x2 still looks good. Maybe someone talk me out of it before I put it in the cart. Im looking at bang for buck,, and you can get a 9800x2 for 400$ free shipping now. So right now its about 60$ more then a 4870

You can get my GX2 for $325 shipped :)

But Yeah, the GX2 is a power house but as with everything it does have its issues.

your motherboard supports crossfire if it's P35

Not necessarily. I have a P35 mobo (Abit IP35Pro) with two PCIE slots which will allow two ATI cards to operate in CF mode. However, one of the slots is only 4X (not 8X or 16X) and for two ATI/AMD cards this is not an efficient setup.
