Whos done soft/hardware mod (enable 8 pipelines) on 9800SE? did it work?

To perform software mod, download n install this driver.
http://softmod.ocfaq.com/download.php (Softmodded Display Driver)
Use Riva Tuner, 3DMark01/03, etc to confirm 8 pipelines.

For [H]mod (only try if softmod was successful),
Take off the HSF, join two bridges on GPU with condutive grease/pen.
http://reviews.designtechnica.com/guide12_page5.html (pic2)
Download the correct 9800Pro bios (same memory type) and flash the card.
http://softmod.ocfaq.com/bios.php
(after [H]mod ur card will work as 9800 pro all the time, no softmod driver required, possible performance increase over softmod. it can be undone)

If the mod works, it should be identical to 9800Pro.
Mod won't work on 128bit 9800SE (I-shaped memory), only works on 256bit 9800SE (L-shaped memory).
Some older 9800SE has 9700 PCB, but mod can still be done.

I have a 3mth old 256bit Powercolor 9800SE, it has 9800 PCB, 2.8ns Hynix memory, mod works 100%. I'm plannin on gettin another 9800Pro(i mean SE) and I want to know if all new one are 100% moddable due to improved yeild on R350..

p.s. if the software mod works, replace the stock hsf with Zalman 80C and opt fan when u do the [H]mod n u have better card than 9800Pro.

Just got one for 150 off new egg for my friend. His mobo isnt here yet so we popped it in here and used the omegas to softmod it. Checked in atitool, 8 pipelines, got it running at 410core and stock mem right now, no artifacting yet.

I have an XpertVision 256 bit 9800SE that has been softmodded to a pro np, i was just wondering what would be a resonable o/c for it currently 405/320.
I have a arctic cooling VGA xilencer 3 on it btw ??

With the VGA Silencer, OC the card to the limit, use ATi Tool to determine your highest overclock.

Cool, i was thinkin of getting the XpertVision one.. does it have 9800 PCB, wat brand/ns is the mem? I'm not sure about Arctic cooling but with Zalman(n opt fan) u should get around 420 core easily. Mem o/c really depends on brand/ns of ram chips..

9800SE with R360! GPU - http://www.digit-life.com/articles2/radeon/sapphire-7.html?41592&54066
Newegg 9800SE customer reviews - http://secure.newegg.com/app/CustratingReview.asp?DEPA=0&item=14-131-236

According to this review (http://www.winshop.com.au/tonys/XpertVision 9800SE 128MB 256bit Benchtest.htm) XpertVision 9800SE ran 445/351 with stock? cooling. sadly this guy is clueless, prob never even heard of soft/hardmod..

256MB XpertVision 9800SE (possibly to 9800XT) - http://forums.ocfaq.com/showthread.php?t=2542 another clueless guy with good card.

Anyway i'll prob get 256MB XpertVision 9800SE next week.. anyone with any info on 9800SE=>9800XT?

I have a Powercolor 128mb 9800se that mods fine w/ Omega Cats to 9800 pro. I run it everyday @ 414/370. Here's the best 03 I could save:
http://service.futuremark.com/compare?2k3=2546342
I've ran it up higher but I got a CPU variation error or some bs & I couldn't publish. It runs up to ~450/ ~390 before artifacting. This is w/ the Zalman heatpipe cooler w/ the slimline Zalman 80mm fan & no VMods (yet... ;) ).

ATI Tool is a piece. It says my max core oc is something like 401 but I have it at 412 with 0 problems.

I have a new Powercolor 9800 SE w/128 megs RAM. It’s a 256 bit version with 2.8 memory modules. The softmod worked flawlessly. I replaced the stock GPU fan with a larger AMD CPU fan (3 pin attached to M/B). I’ve achieved a stable O/C of 400 GPU and 350 (x2) Memory. I can go up to 410/360 without any artifacts or graphical anomalies but I like a bit of headroom. I’m just thrilled to have all 8 pipelines open!

All that performance for just $140.00 shipped!

my powercolor 9800se@9800pro ran 440/360 with zalman h80c until i sold it..

i heard that new Sapphire 9800SE (256bit) can be modded to 9800Pro 100%..

According to the powercolor website, there's two versions of their 9800SE: one's the R98SE-C3 and the other's the R98-C3 aka 'Lite' version. Which of these card did you guys have? The 'Lite' version is clocked at 325/580 while the other is at 380/680. Dunno... I'm thinking of getting the lite version cuz its $25 cheaper at the egg...but will it softmod ok? The PCB is also different between the 2 versions. Newegg has some close up pics of the boards: R98SE-C3 and the R98-C3 aka 'Lite'

Dont get the one from gameve.com ($122, great price still though) if you want 2.8ns ram, it has 3.3ns ram which is 300mhz ram and mine runs at.. well see sig. I put copper ram sinks on it and they get hot still. Softmodded fine, small spec of screen corruption, hardly noticable. I love it.

My card from newegg.com with Hynix RAM modded perfectly. 446 core and 387 memory.

wat brand is it?
i think latest 9800se from Sapphire n Powercolor seem to mod without much prob..
