I have a 9800 pro and in SOF2 im getting like 50-90 fps and some kids are getting in like 150-200 fps and they have like 9700pro's im just wondering why im not getting high FPS. I just did a fresh install of WIndows have the catalyst 4.2 drviers and im using 4x AGP. Could it be my ram?

is that chip a 266 fsb or 333? i can't remember, get the ram that matches the processor. you won't get too much more performance out of a gig, but faster ram helps. also, check what settings they are running, chances are they aren't running the same ones.

oh, then faster ram won't get you anything, because it will still be running at 266. I would perhaps suggest first comparing the settings you use, then asking yourself why 50-90 fps is a problem, because your moniter is only drawing 70-85 (depending on your refresh rate)

Wait if i get a Pc3200 motherboard (Abit NF7) the ram won't run at 400 mhz it will ran at 266mhz?

the ram will only run as fast as the front side bus, so you need a processor that runs with a faster front side bus to run at those faster speeds. btw, what mobo are you running right now?

haha some crappy one. Well if i get a ABit NF7 will it help me at all in gaming performance?

yes, especially if you are changing chipsets to a better chipset (Nforce 2). the nf7-s is a nice mobo. but before you upgrade, I suggest that you ask yourself if you really need the extra fps. because if you don't you would probably do better waiting for prices to drop on athlon 64s and go that route for a whole proc, mem, mobo change.

yes, after 64 bit procesors fully mature the 3000+ will be even cheaper

to answer the Q about if ram will run at 400 Mhz or not
you dont need a CPU w/ FSB of 400 Mhz to run ram at 400 Mhz, you just need to adjust the ratio of the ram to get it up to 400 i THINK it was like 3:2 or something like that? ionno EPoX Bios has a percentage thingy so i just play around with the settings till i get 400

With ati cards u can turn off Vsync with means u can get as high as your video card can process. SO when i get my Abit NF7 should i get a anthlon xp 3000+, then maybe ram. After that upgrade i am done with this computer. THen i will buy a amd 64 fx-51, in about 1 year or 2 b/c they cost about 700 just for the processor it self. WEll thanks for the help.
