I am finally plunking down some cash for a MUCH MUCH needed video card upgrade. Look at my Sig and you'll see what I mean.

I am probably going to get a Sapphire ATI 9800pro from NewEgg.

They have a Retail and OEM versions, one is $209{oem} and the other $219{retail}.

Now I am just making sure with my fellow geeks here.

The only difference between these two is one has the colorful retail box\bundle and the other one doesn't right?

Just chime in and let me know what ya think! Any and all suggestions are appreciated as always!

Thanks People!

Just wondering, is the warranty any different between OEM and retail? Just a thought especially since the $10 dollar difference is minor at best.

If you buy an OEM from NewEgg, they have a warranty you can buy for like $5 that will extend it to like 2-3 years.

Sometimes OEM 9800pros come underclocked. Mine was running around 50mhz slower in both core and mem speeds, with a custom bios. It was a Dell OEM. It is very overclockable though!

The pretty box is well worth the $10... haha not really .. well seriously it IS worth it.

Retail comes w/ like 1 or 2 full games, and everytime I look at the retail box and that big-ass ATI 9800 PRO symbol it feels good.

They are exactly the same. But sure if you got a Dell which I for one can´t imagine any reason to do you may have to flash your Bios.

And the bundle isn´t all that. A DVD player that only supports stereo and you have to pay for dolby digital and DTS. A game Tomb raider: Angel of Darkness that don´t seem to be all that either and a lot of cables and accessories you never use anyway.
