Is there some kind of driver issue with AA and a 9800Gx2?

Has it been fixed. I'm looking at the card as I have a non-SLI mobo.

I'm not really that up on GPU tech - is this bug significant? Will it be fixed? Is AA important at 1920x1200?

Yes, I have heard of no such bug except for the oddity that 4X aa on COD is lower performance than it should be. Besides that everything else runs fine on latest 174.74 drivers. If the drivers do have issues I find nhancer aids in remedying this.

It is a marvellous little app that allows you to edit/create customized profiles for anything you want to run your nvidia based card with. You can change SLI settings, AA/AF settings, enable things that Nvidias control panel doesn't allow, contains experimental modes for different things etc. Very lightweight and just sits in your tasbar. Whenever you run a game, nhancer applies the settings without you even noticing and voila. It really works great when Nvidia disables/breaks game profiles from driver updates. Happens all too often.

So this is confirmed? Well that would explain a few things...

Yes, for some unknown reason, and as far as I know only in COD4, 4XAA has a larger than average performance drop when applied. 2X AA is no problem but 4X AA just tanks. The weird thing is dual 8800GTS 512mb in SLI does not contain the same issue which is essentially all the 9800GX2 is. It seems to be a bug pertained to the GX2 itself. With that game being so popular, and with it scaling as well as it does I am sure whatever the issue is it will be fixed up via a game patch and/or driver update soon enough.

If anyone knows of any other issues such as this please do chime in as I have heard of only great performance as a whole from the GX2.

well hopefully they will come out with a fix soon, I have had strange fps issues throughout at certain parts of the game, sometimes shooting down to 1fps..

Other games were ok, but unfortunately my PSU is fried... sooo...I gotta get a new one:mad:
