so ive been considering the idea of upgrading my 9800gtx+ used in the rig in sig.

what a reasonable upgrade? ive been looking at the gtx 275 pretty hard, want to stay with nvidia generally.

game at 1920x1200, and like to have all the eye candy turned up... 8x AA 16x af....so im wanting at least a gb of memory on the card. any reccomendations? or should i kick back and wait for some price drops again or new cards to release?

whats yalls opinions?

I'd recommend a GTX 275. You do have a pretty good card though...maybe you can wait till the next gen cards hit the market.

kick back and wait.. and while waiting overclock your 9800GTX+ should benefit you a little more.. once the next gen hits.. the gtx200 series will nose dive in prices..

If you just want NVIDIA cards, then for an actual upgrade and especially at that resolution, you should be looking at a GTX 260 216, GTX 275 or GTX 285. No need for GTX 295. I would say that if your budget allows you to get a GTX 275, then go for it, but do not dismiss the GTX 260 216, which is cheaper and isn't that far off the GTX 275 in terms of performance.

baby steps right ;)

yea im eyeing that 275 pretty hard, maybe ill wait for a sale or something and pick one up

or i may just hold off until next gen, when new stuff comes out, and get a new one, or pickup something that gets a price drop...

From a 9800GTX+ the minimum you should go for is a GTX 285 / HD 4890. You won't "feel" the difference otherwise.

if you want to push up AA, I would suggest 4890 with better AA performance....

beside that, GTX 275/285 would be a good choice to go if you don't push AA that far...

i just upgraded from a 8800gt and i could have waited u got a better card than mine, i would hang with it till fall when the gt300 is released and then buy a 275/285
