It this pretty much an outdated card for todays games? Waste of time to buy one for cheap?

Is there a competition to see who can post the shortest, most uninformative post this morning? I'm sorry phrazel, but you just can't beat this thread!

CONTEXT, PEOPLE.

What do you want to play?
What are your other system specs?
What is your monitor resolution?
What exactly do you call "cheap?" You may be getting boned here.

But if he's getting one for, say, 50 bucks used, then that might be a better buy - especially if he doesn't play cutting-edge DX11 games. See what I mean about CONTEXT, eh?

I see what you are saying, I was possibly incorrectly assuming that he was buying a new card.

define cheap

and it will play just about anything as long as you aren't pushing really high resolutions.

just an example here but mine played fine(9800gtx+) in bad company 2. 1680x1050 with medium settings and 2xAA. Again just an example. I wouldnt write the card off, especially if you can get a used one at a fair price. It still has its place.
