Ok so a buddy sent me a BFG 9800GT 1GB... does this card not require power cables? I dont see anyplace on here to hook them up. I thought all cards required this? Or am I truely blind as a bat and not seeing them?

Some of the later 9800GTs were low power variants. Maybe you got one of those? Don't know. Put it in, see if it works. You can't hurt anything that way, it'll just make a horrible noise (there's a buzzer on boards requiring power that sounds if power isn't applied) if it needs power.

Ok let me try that and see... I was just kinda baffled cause I cant recall the last time a card didnt need those cables. Lemme uninstall my ATi drivers and cross my fingers.

That was it... wow... Im shocked it doesnt need cables. Oh well lol... installing latest drives. Thanks guys, learned something new today.

One last question... been using ATi for ages and they have the GUI to control various aspects like fan speed and such... is there nothing like this for NVidia? Nothing in my taskbar and the only thing listed in Start>Programs is 4 items about 3D Vision.

Assuming you installed the full Forceware suite, not just the bare display driver, you can right-click on the desktop and choose the new option there.

Hmmm.... no fan control? What do you guys suggest for controlling fan and monitoring temps?
