i have a 9800 xt... i also own a pc4800e deluxe motherboard... my problem is that i cant get 8x agp to work... i went to advanced options in video settings and i have set it to 8xagp... windows says in order to see if its stable we will do a test ... so press ok to restart... i do so... windows reloads and then everything i set has been turned off... people have told me in the beginning you need more power... so i got a 500 watt power supply... that didnt work im literally going crazy buying this thing and not getting the full use out of it please help.

edit: there is no option in my bios to turn it on... trust me ive looked i have also taken 7 screen shots of my bios to prove this there is no option :\

I'm no Intel guru, but I'll try to give you some suggestions. I'm assuming you mean the P4C800-E Deluxe from Asus (I may be incorrect). In that case, you should be able to use AGP8X without any issues. A BIOS update might help you, though. You can also check/set AGP speed with a program like RivaTuner (initial screen, customize triangle button, then AGP tab). As far as I know, your BIOS doesn't have a setting for AGP multiplier, so perhaps someone with a similar issue might be able to help you. Some other forums here might be of more assistance, as well.

I can understand your frustration, but don't give up hope yet. I should also mention that performance loss due to 4X instead of 8X is minimal at best.
