Hey I have a ATI Radeon 9800 pro. I want to run it at "xt" speeds but I get a lot of artifacts (sp). I was able to get it to run at 400/350 with stock cooling. I'm going to buy a "ZALMAN Dual Heatpipe Noiseless VGA Cooler, Model "ZM80D-HP" will I beable to get 412/365 out of it? I don't want to do any Vmods.

Thanks

Specs:
Abit NF7-S 2.0
AMD Barton 2500+ @ 3200+
ATI Radeon 9800 pro
PMI 2 x 512mb pc3200

Another option would be an Arctic Cooling VGA Silencer and a package of RAMsinks from someone like OCZ. I like the VGA Silencer because it exhausts hot out the back of the case.

I've got one on my ATI 9800 pro and it's currently running 420/366... and that's not maxed, just as high as I feel like going :)

Did you ever try to o/c with the stock cooling? If so what did yo get out of it?

Thanks

Mine does 420/370 on stock cooling. 100% artifact free. It can go up to 430/380 comfortably but I notice a little white snow on mother nature.

Thanks for the replys guys.

I know everone that has the 9800 pro isn't using the stock HSF. What is everyone using? What kind of speeds are you getting? Did you remove the shim?

Thanks, and I hope more peeps reply

mine did like 400/365 stock and ehh around 410/372 with a vga silencer / ramsinks on a good day (i can go higher but that is around the speed i begin to see artifacts with dx9 shaders) everything else is entirely stock on it.

now i have a MCW50 waterblock on it but i havent gotten around to overclocking as i somehow broke atitool, how i did that is beyond me :(

Will the ZALMAN Dual Heatpipe Noiseless VGA Cooler, Model "ZM80D-HP make good contact with the core with the shim still on there?

ya, it was the r300 series(ie, 9700) that had the bad shim design. this one is level w/ the core, as aposed to above it

Well, I removed the shim on mine, as I noticed that the stock HSF had a protrusion from the rest of the base where the core would be.

As for my speeds, I have a R350. W/ Stock fan, I could only run safely at about 406/377. W/ a VGA Silencer, I can run 418/378. But I keep it out 410/740(370) to keep things from getting to hot for the card.

Thanks guys, I just want to run it at 412/365 when I get the ZALMAN HS for DOOM3.

Do you guys think it will do 412/365 with better cooling? Like I said with the stock HSF I can only get 400/350.

Core r350 or atleast that is what aitTool says.
