I installed a 9800 pro replacign a geforce 4. I used the manual add remove and drivercleaner as well. I installed the latest ATI drivers. But, when I try to run 3dmark05, it gives me an error: IDirect3DDevice9:: Present failed: Device lost (DEDERR_DEVICELOST) This always happens in the middle of the 3rd test. I am not sure what this means. I have cleaned out the old drivers twice already. Also, 3dmark05 says my "AGP Memory" is set to 64 mb. Should I set it to 256 mb to match my 256 mb 9800 pro? Thanks

I don't believe that the AGP aperture size will impact performance.

I had a very similar problem as you did with my 9600XT. It related to my AGP port being set to "OFF" instead of "8x". Try uninstalling all of your system drivers (run driver cleaner) and then start from scratch. Always install chipset drivers first (if you're using an nForce chipset, try using the International drivers instead of the US English version; I don't know why, but doing that has made a difference for some people). Next install the latest catalyst drivers (5.10/5.11 or whatever the newest version is). If the problem still persists than it could be a problem with the card.

However, remember that 3Dmark is not an accurate representation of real-world gameplay, so as long as all of your other 3D applications are running on par, than I wouldn't worry about 3Dmark.
