9800 pro problems.. HELP

So I just installed my sapphire 9800 Pro 128 mb card into my new machine and low and behold the screen gets alll weird during bootup. There are green lines through it, well really all kinds of lines, it looks messed up in other words. This is a brand new machine and the card is completely in the AGP socket and the monitor is completely plugged in. Sometimes it also starts out fine but in like 10 seconds it goes wild. Anyone help? Is the card bad? :( :(
