hey guys, i just got a new TV for my 18th bday ( here is the TV ) and it says it is 1080p (1920 x 1080), but i can only get it to 1360 x 768. once i try and go any higher and the TV freaks out and goes crazy with like green lines and stuff everywhere.here is a pic. i have been trying to figure this out (looking through the manual and reading stuff here) but i cant seem to figure out what is going on.

btw here is a look at my setup if your curious :)

i know its pretty messy, but i love it

edit: the pic right above looks like my TV screen is green, but it was the zombie mod i was playing on CS:S, not like this pic: http://img519.imageshack.us/img519/8406/img012bv3.jpg

mm CS:S

Don't quote me on it, but I don't know how well such an old video card will handle 1080p... even if it COULD set it that high, I don't think the 9800Pro has the kick for powering a 1920x1080 resolution.

yea i know, i will be getting a new computer soon. but i want to make sure that the new TV i got can actually run '1080p' for my computer. i have gotten it to work on my 360 but cant with the computer, even to just read stuff on the internet.

Try another computer or video card. Should solve your problem pretty quick.

well the only thing that might make me think that it is the TV, when i hook up my old 19 in monitor i can get it up to much higher resolutions with ease. but with this, it freaks out

could probably need a special driver(had it happen with a LCD I have). also try a fresh install of the ATI driver. Get a driver cleaner follow the instructions and get new ones going.

YOu just answererd your question.. runs it for the 360 so once you have a hd compatiable vid card then it will run :)

A 9800pro is capable of resolutions HIGHER than 1080p, 2048x1536 to be exact, (wouldn't try to game with it up there though).. So something, some where is wonky or defective in your setup.. Are you connecting it via dvi or s-video? Using the dvi connector it should work..

its probably a driver issue, i the 9700pro and the creation of 1080p was very very far apart, i doubt amd/ati updated the 9700pro drivers for 1080p

Update your drivers.

Also, what kind of cable are you using to connect your screen to the PC?

And if the Xbox 360 works in 1080p, you can probably guess that it's not the TV's fault, must be drivers or something.

I'll chime in as well with the same driver/pebkac assumption...if the 360 pushes the proper resolution then the TV is fine and you can either spend time figuring out the issue at hand or deal with it until you get a new video card/computer.

Don't mean to sound harsh, but it's fairly straight forward.

If you are connecting via the VGA connector, your TV might have a resolution limit. My TV is the same way.(Check in your manual to be sure.) If you plug in to your TV by HDMI with a VGA to HDMI connector, it should go to 1080p. (I personally haven't tried this on my media center PC yet, but I'm almost positive that should fix your problem. My TV limits me to 1024x768 with VGA connector.)

Dunno try using 1080i just for troubleshooting
Have the drivers treat the display as a HD-TV.
I believe that there's an option for that in the ATI drivers/ATI Tray Tools.
