I noticed on the fan on my 9800 pro will spin up and then slow down and go fast again and then slow and will keep going like its dying or something. I have cleaned it out with can air but it still does this. has anyone else had this problem and would it be covered under warranty?

Take this opportunity to purchase some good aftermarket cooling for your ATi card.

warranty. Don't get aftermarket cooling unless you want to ruin your warranty.

Bah.. warrant schmarranty! Thats not [H]ard! :p

Hehe.. I didn't even boot up my old 9800Pro before swapping the cooler for an Arctic Silencer! :D

In this case though... try an RMA, you might get a better card! ;)

I called ati and it is covered under warranty for 3 years. They said go ahead and RMA it to them and they will most likley send me out a new one. Bad part is that it will take 10 days probably but I have a laptop I guess I could use just to surf the net with. No games :( You do have a point though that would be cool if they do send me a better card so its worth a try.

good luck with ati's RMA department, I sent in my 9800 pro and they sent me back a 9800 non pro. I have spent the past month calling long didtance trying to get a 9800 pro back, finally today they decided after 36 calls that they would send me a pre-ship RMA and i could expect a card the end of the week. thumbs down to ati customer support.
