i have a 9800 pro with 256 MB ram BBA and my fan died on it.
anyways i want to get a good fan that is quite and keeps it cool
since the day i bought it was always getting hot, i guess ati stock fan is not good enough
can anyone suggest a good fan
i'm alos thinking of flashing it to a 9800 XT

any help will be greatly appertiated

I stuck one of these at $14 on my 9700 Pro. It's very quiet and cools it way better than the stock heatsink but it does take up two slots because it blows the hot air out the back (which I think is a much better idea than heating up the inside of the machine). They also have some more expensive models specifically for the 9800 Pro like this at $30 which have copper bases but I personally think they're overkill and the cheaper aluminum ones work just fine.

ok i purchased the artic silencer 3 and it'll be here by monday, now does it have a manual that tell u how to get the current stcok heatsink out

They come with directions and it's pretty easy. The original heat sinks are usually held on with two plastic gizmos and you have to go to the back of the video card and squeeze 'em with needlenose pliers and then push them through the board (as best as I can recall). The hardest part is removing the "pink gum" heat sink glop from the GPU if they used it.

Pull the pins out of the plastic rivet from the front first then turn the card over and squeeze the tabs and push the rivet through the card.

omfg, the arctic silence 3 didn't fit in my card
and it says on the package compatible with 9800XT and 9800 PRO 256MB
so y didn't fit mine
r there versions of the 9800 PRO 256 and if there is which silencer should i get

Like to see a pic of your card, or if you can tell us what brand. I never heard AC-Rev 3 not fitting a 9800pro, That revision should even fit an all in wonder.
