Is i possible the a overheated/bad vid card can cause a system to shut down completley? I have a 9800 Pro card that is the only thing the hasnt be swapped out of a system (MB, CPU, Ram, PSU all tested) and whenever the system under a graphics load (Everquest), it shuts down after a few minutes.

yea I think it is possible.

my x800xt gets super hot....and during Half Life 2 Stress test it gave me massive artificats and shut down on its own.

I later found out the core temp reached 93 degree celsius.

I am not quite positive and driver has set threshold temp and when the core temp goes over the threshold it will force computer to shut down in order to protect the card from getting fried.
