9800 Pro & Artic Cooler

I just got a ATI 9800 Pro and wondered if you have to remove the shim to install the Artic Cooler. These things seem to put off quite a bit of heat and I would like to install the Artic Cooler on it but if you do have to remove the shim do you have any hints so I don't screw up a new video card. Thanks
 
My Hercules shim seemed to be same heigth as the GPU core, so I left mine alone for I was afraid of slipping and destroy my new video card. Put some extra AS3 on and its been awesome.

Nice pic! I just installed a VGA Silencer and some copper ramsinks this afternoon.

Quick (and very stupid question): Which way does the back toggle switch have to be for the High Speed Fan setting? I have so many case fans in my rig that I can't hear the difference even putting my ear up to it. :)
