My friend bought an HP build to order desktop with a 256 meg 9800 pro AGP card in it. Anyhoo, the fan died on the card, so HP sent a technician out to his house with a new card and installed it. He got to keep the old card is the plus side. So he offered to sell it to me for $45. I found a pretty spiffy heatsink fan for it on for $24. I was thinking of putting it into my spare machine(currently Ti 4200 128 meg) so when I host LAN parties and someone brings a shitty computer/doesn't have a computer, they could use my secondary machine. Do you think it's worth investing $70 for this card?

9800 pro is a great card, I'd say its worth putting 70 bux into it

hell, buy it an sell it on the classies, if you dont want it. they go for like 100 when they are the 256mb version, and youll have updated cooling.

9800 Pros are still going for about 200 bucks in the retail stores that have them like Fry's so it is WELL worth the money cause as said before they are 100 to 150 online.

Go for it! I have a 9800Pro 256MB and still love it! :)

Of course, you may want to make sure the card works before completing the transaction. :D

GO FOR IT! Still a frickin great card that will run the games you want to play. It's a shame how fast these babies have depreciated in value. $45 bucks is a steal, you could probably find a good cooler (maybe the OEM) for 1/2 the price of the one you're looking at if you look around.

Thats a fantastic deal and the 9800 pro 256mb is still a dam good card even today and run most programs 1280x960 2x aa 4xaf.
