I currently have 1 9800 GT 512. I am wanting to upgrade. Is it worth it to get a gtx 260 216 core or another 9800 gt 512 and run SLI? If I get the gtx 260 I will most like wait a coupel weeks and hook it up SLI. I am not very keen on the graphics card and I a m looking for some help.

thanks

i faced this same decision. i got the gtx 260 and it happened to be a lemon. so i returned it. i thinking i'm gonna go 9800gt sli this time around. the 9800gt is cheaper, and two of them will edge out a single gtx 260.
One thing to keep in mind with the gtx 260 is that it's REALLY LONG. 10.5 inches. IT barely fit into my computer case and crushed a lot of cables along the way, had to take out a drive cage to install it. The 9800Gt is much easier to fit in with its 9 inch length and only takes up a single slot vs the gtx 260's double slots. Also the 9800 only needs 1 6 pin power connector, the 260 requires two of them.

I just got offfered a trade for a computer for my laptop and Iam getting a 9800GTX+ with it. Waht about running them SLI?

I'd sli 9800 if u are short on money. Or just sell that 9800gtx+ and get 260gtx

Make sure they will fit in your computer case and won't interfere with anything on the motherboard. Break out the measuring tape.

Card Lengths:

From a post of mine a little over a week ago....

4870 = 24cm or 9.45in
4850 = 23.5cm or 9.25in

for comparison....

3850 = 24.5cm or 9.65in
3870 = 23cm or 9in
3870x2 = 26.67cm or 10.5in

8800gts = 22.8cm or 9in
8800gtx = 28cm or 11in
9800gtx = 26.66cm or 10.5in
gtx200 = 26.7cm or 10.51in

I guess if the manufacturer sticks to the ref design the lenght should be the same.

The 4890 btw is 9.5 inches long.

as usual no real information is given and nobody takes the time to ask. OP please list ALL your specs including screen res when asking for video card advice. you may not have a system decent enough to run a gtx260 let alone two of them.
