Hey guys.... I need some help on this one.

My brother currently has a setup using 2 7800GT's in SLI. I was thinking of getting him a upgrade for Xmas so that he could play COD: 5 pretty well at 1060*1050 (and any other game he gets). I was looking at getting him maybe a 4850 or a 9800GT but i couldnt decide on which.

The 9800GT is cheaper than the 4850, but i wasnt sure on its performance compared to it. Are they about the same? What about a 4850 compared to a 9800GTX+?

My girlfriend currently has a 4850 in her rig, and runs games fairly nice. But wasnt sure really on what to do. Didnt want to go to crazy as far as price ya know? Was hoping for you input.

Thanks!

Interesting stuff.... The only thing is... Im not a fan of Sapphire's. They still only offer a 1 year warranty right? Was hoping for something better (lifetime like evga, bfg, visiontek).

I was looking to spend $150 or lower.

You should be comparing the 9800GT to the 4830, not the 4850.

And even the 4830 pretty much destroys the 9800gt.

4850 is the way to go. Look for Best Buy to bring back the Visiontek 4850 sale near black friday.. I'm pretty sure they will. 130 no rebates crap for a 4850 w/ a $10 gift card as a gift.

4850 is clearly the better card, but if he has an SLI board you should get him an nvidia card to keep the option of SLI on the table.

HD4830 ~= 9800GT (~$100-130)

HD4850 ~= 9800GTX+ (~$140-200)

I'd pick the HD4830 or HD4850 personally.

He currently does have a SLI board. Hmmm.... I guess ill just go ahead and pick up a 4850 for him. Ill just have to keep looking for a nice lil deal to hit. Thanks guys for your help! :D
