Looking for temporary cards as I almost have my new system put together. Was wondering what these would equal too for a 200 series card? Just that I am getting a good deal on the 2 and need something cheap for now to get me going.

GTS 250 i believe.

Edit:...wait..what? i didnt understand the question. I have no clue.

Gtx260, gtx275 would be a bit faster i imagine.

Edit: Gts250 lol, i dont think so thats just a 9800gtx/8800gts.

I went from two 8800GT's in SLI to a single GTX260. The single GTX 260, while having a lower maximum FPS, was able to maintain a much higher minimum and average FPS due to the fact that .. it isn't SLI.

Depends on your resolution, settings, and game list. The maximum performance gain attained from SLI (100%) puts it on par with a 260. But usually it will perform between a 250 and 260 at a high resolution (1920 x 1080 or greater).

I went from dual 8800GT (same card) to a 260. I also recently upgraded from a 1280 x 1024 to a 1920 x 1200 monitor. The 260 was massively faster than the dual 8800GT at 1280 x 1024 (about 66% higher fps on average) but only slightly faster at 1920 x 1200 (about 20-25% higher fps on average).

Somewhere aroun GTX 260 core 192 and core 216.

Nowhere close to GTX 280/285.

It's actually a little bit faster than GTX280. Without AA that is. With AA 512mb really kills performance especially in upper resolutions.

lmao.

So @ 800x600 low details its faster than a gtx280 ;)

Its not faster than a 280...ive had both. 280 blows 9800 gt SLI out of the water.

well if you need something cheap for now, definitely don't get the 280. The 4870, 4890 would be the cheapest best price:performance for a hang over. 4870 1gb ~ GTX 260 216 and 4890 ~ GTX 275. Any of those would work well for you for the hangover. I'd go with the 4890 though for the price

Don't be sarcastic. 8800gt SLI beats GTX280 without AA upto 1920x1200 max gpu settings except for AA. Only when the 8800gt SLI runs out of VRAM or bandwidth it loses to GTX280.

Other way around. The higher the resolution, AA, and settings the better sli/crossfire does versus a better single card.

I'm curious about those benchmark results though. As my setup is almost identical to the test setup yet in the crysis benchmark I'm getting 30fps with my 260 and 27 fps with my dual 8800GT. Also without sli my single 8800GT is getting 15fps while the benchmark shows it scoring 20fps.
