9700pro vs 5900nu

The 9700pro, there performance may be close to equal in todays games, but in the future dx9 games the 9700pro will really began to shine with its superior shader performance.

Also don't forget AA and Aniso. 5900 trails behind the 9700 when this is enabled.

And Pixel shader. I wouldn't worry too much about this. Nobody can tell the future even though they think they can.

It depends on which brand of 5900nu you're using to compare. A BFG or Gainward 5900nu @ 400/850 is better than a 9700p, because those 5900nu cards are awsome OCers, going up to / above 5950 speeds.

don't forget that some of the 9700p oc really well too

ati gets my vote

Since both of these cards are around $200, you can't go wrong with either. But if you can find a BFG 5900 For $200-$220 I'd get that because some of those BFGs have gone at or above 500/1000

5900NU is $184
9700pro is $209

Pretty much a toss up. I would give the 9700 pro a slight advantage stock and that is reflected in the current prices. When both are overclocked, that gap decreases even more. I chose the 5900NU simply for the fact that NVIDIA has better non-windows drivers.
