I just bought a Dell 2005FPW (20.1" widescreen) and I was looking at my desktop properties/catalyst control center to check out resolutions. Well on Dell's website it says the native res. is 1680x1050. I didn't see that listed though. Will I have a problem using this or will the correct res. show up once I connect the monitor? Oh and if it matters, the LCD I'm using now is a 15" dell using analog, whereas I'll be using the new LCD with DVI.

YES, it will matter. my 15 LCD can only display max of 1024x768... plenty for me

once you use the other monitor, you can specify higher resolution, (on my old 17" CRT I could get like 2400x1600)

so, yeah size does matter (pixels)
 
Yeah I know what you mean there, but... it will let me see resolutions that my monitor can't handle if I tell it to... and it's still not listed. I also just visited ATI's website and looked at the specs for the Radeon 9700 Pro, and the res. I need is not listed... it states:

"16:9 aspect ratio monitors are supported on 1920x1080 and 848x480 on Windows® XP, Windows® 2000 and Windows® ME. The complete list of resolutions depends on the driver version and operating system. NOTE: that resolutions are limited by the performance of the attached monitor. "

I just called them and he explained that the above means that it might show up more resolutions once I actually install the monitor and run the drivers. So I guess that answers my question.

Upgraded to ws monitor myself last week. No problems getting the rez set to the native resolution --- enjoy your widescreen computing experience -- ws gaming is an incredible gaming visual experience. Full screen gaming resolutions require a lot of gpu power -- hence the note on performance may vary ....
