would you get a powercolor 9700 pro or a sapphire r9800?

I can get em for same price, im gonna be ocing it. hope itll be ok for D3 and HL2.

na, I can get the 9700p and 9800 second hand for around £120.

will cost me £55 more to buy a 9800p, and I dont want to spend that much.

so 9800 is better then 9700 pro?

thx. u reckon itll run doom3 and hl2 oright at 1280 res, 30 fps.

my system:

P4 3.0C
1GB XMS3500
IC7

definitely get 9800pro for this setup. i'm about to trade in my 9700pro for it as well.

you sure m8.

the r9800 i mite be gettin clocks to pro speeds. how much difference in FPS will the 9800pro make in future games.

ill mostly be running my games at 1280*1024, prepared to go down to 1152*864 but I defo wont be going higher then 1280*1024.

9800 np (with some o/c) and your 3.0c will run an easy 30fps in D3 @ 1280 x 1024 0aa 0af without a problem, well as long as you have 1 gig of ram though.

i can run it 1024 x 768 2aa 8af with no problems, and that was ages ago.

thanks for that braincode.

the r9800 should clock to pro speeds according to the seller, I have 1GB of Ram and I can clock my cpu to 3.5 rock solid.

There is a performance difference worth 10 $ going from a 9700 PRO to a 9800 NP generally. Not much to speak of really but if they are similarily priced get the 9800 NP. It´s clocked a little slower but generally overclock a bit higher. But a 9800 PRO isn´t that much faster than an 9700 PRO anyway and an overclocked 9800 NP won´t be as fast as an 9800 PRO. You do the math :D

Uh... I have a hard time believing my 9800 XT will be able to do 1280 at 30fps constant.

What are you talking about? Of course it will: http://hardocp.com/article.html?art=NDc0LDI= (edit: maybe not constant, but overall it should be very playable)

Doom 3 looks like it will be very playable at 1024x768 with Radeon 9500 and above and FX 5600 Ultra and above hardware. Without FSAA/AF, it even looks like it will play decently at 1600x1200 on the fastest cards now (5950U/9800XT). iD isn't Bungee or Valve. :p

Managed to pick up a Sapphire R9800 Pro 128MB for £140 inc delivery and vat.

Brand new aswell.

:D

That wasn't off eBay, right?

There's a certain scammer on eBay who is selling those for a "low" price. But good luck actually getting it.

ye, my geforce2mx 400 sucks. In CS on Aztec its a bit jerky. plus with this card I cant play X2 , so I had to get a new card.
