Hey I'm looking for recomendations on a replacement heatsink-fan for a Radeon 9700 Pro. I know it's an old card but it still runs some games I play and the fan is dying causing it to get too hot and thus crash my computer sometimes. I should be able to use something not even really designed for it if I buy thermal adhesive to stick it on there. And then I know I have an extra power connector so I should be fine in that department. If anyone has any advice, please let me know! Thanks

I took an old CPU fan (old AMD athlon fan). Drilled some holes in the bottom of it and screwed it to the ATI 9700. Card ran nice and cool. Still running today! And by the way, lets toast one of the greatest cards ever made!!!

If I don't have something old lying around (I will look), is there a place where one can buy cheap junk like that?

When small fans on old cards/motherboards die I usually separate them from the heatsink and screw/ziptie on a 60 or 80mm fan and call it a day. Those heatsink fins are great for wedging screws into!

if you find something lieing around, just ghetto rig something.

I wouldn't bother actually buying anything for it, just buy new video card in that case.

I have mounted a k6 amd heatsink to ati 9800 pro before, worked fine (had to make a bracket for it).

toast to ATI 9700 pro.
