i am about to take the stock heatsink off of my 9700 pro to put some as5 and was wondering if i was in store for any surprises. if i remove the clips does it easily come off? what is the best way to remove the heatsink compound already there (especially on the die itself). thanks a bunch
(btw how much of a boost should i expect by doing this?)
edit: i was just reading some stuff from 9700 pro overclockers and apparently if you take off the heatsink you MUST remove the shim. this is because the thermal pad that is usually there fills the gap that the shim creates....and a thin layer of arctic silver cant fill that. any truth to this?
