hello all i have a 970pro 128mb card and the hsk doesnt seems to get even warm to the touch but the back of the vard gets really hot any way to cool it down i have a fan blowing on it but doesnt seem to be doing much for cooling it down any way i can put a small hsk on it like a nb hsk or something and if so what would i use to secure it to the card
 
The backs of those cards shouldn't be extremely hot. If anything I would get a VGA silencer to exhaust the heat from the graphics board outside of the case. I would look into something else causing the heat on the back of the card,
 
9700 series cards (and 9500 for that matter) have an issue of the shim (metal protective piece on top of/around the core) being higher than the core. This results in poor contact of the HSF and the core. ATi was able to get around this by using a thick and generally inefficient yellow thermal pad. If you want to cool the card down, you'll probably need a 9700 specific, or a modified sink (to get peak efficiency, that is). If you dont' want to spend much, take a look around for a 9800 series graphics cooler, they've already been cut to remedy this situation. Also: you could thermal tape a small BGA mem cooler to the bakc of your core. It'll fit right in between the Surface Mount components right on the back (look for a hercules 9800 pro, you'll see what imean0
