Sup all. I have a quick question for you all...

Stick with my 9600XT or move up too a 6600GT?

Any performance increase? Image quality?

Thanks...

6600GT will give you a performance increase, and probably allow you to up some of the quality settings in games. The question is though, are you unhappy with the performance of your 9600XT? If you are enjoying your games, think they look pretty good, and are getting decent frames there is no need to upgrade. You might as well wait for the next gen cards to come out if that is the case. However if you are unhappy with your gfx performance than go ahead and upgrade.

First of all yuo will have a performance boost in games, running games at a higher setting and being able to play doom3 pretty good. the 6600GT is a good card all rounder and it just owned the hell out of the 9800pro so yeah.

Unless you've got money to burn, I'd say wait until the next generation of cards.

QFT

Your card is OK for now, its a bit of a waste to upgrade.

Man I wish I had that kinda advice when I was younger! Everyones gotta learn a hard lesson or two though. If you dont need it, no matter how cheap it is, DON'T buy it-- that goes w/ anything in life

exactly my train of thought
a 6600 is definately better, but imo if you are going to upgrade why take a baby step, go for either a 6800 or wait for the next gen..... dont get me wrong a 6600 is a good card.

Umm, hes just thinking of buying a 6600GT, he already has a 9600xt. IMO its not really worthwile to upgrade.

Your 9600XT is totally feeble compared to a 6600GT. If you can live with playing your games at very low settings, keep it, if not the 6600GT is a big step up.

6600GT

it was really necessary to double post, rather than edit your first one?

I upgraded from an 8500 to a 6600GT and I was happy, but I don't know if the small performance gain would merit you upgrading.

8500 to 6600 should be something like, double performance + better image quality....small gain?
