9600xt problems

I recently bought a 9600xt to replace my ancient GeForce2. I took the machine apart, added a couple of fans, and slapped in the card. When I turned it back on, I got no VGA output. I've checked the wiring a thousand times. I tried using the DVI output with a connector on it instead of the VGA out. I'm getting no screen. No internal beeps. I even checked my internal speaker to make sure it was working. Just nothing. I tested the video card out in a different machine and it worked fine.

My motherboard only supports up to 8x, but my understanding was that a 9600xt should scale down to accomodate. Is this not true? I would think I would get an internal beep that I have no VGA card.

Any ideas? Anything would be helpful, thanks!

if the card has a power connector, is it hooked up? try reseating your RAM and all your cards.

Yep, the fan spins, and there are no power connectors to a 9600 xt.
all IDE devices are currently unplugged as well as all PCI cards. I also tried resetting the bios incase maybe I had set my AGP to lower than 4x. The only thing connected are the motherboard power cables, some case fans, CPU and heatsink, a stick of 512 pc2100 ddr, and the video card. I'm stumped.
