9600pro upgrade question

After going through the reccomended upgrade page for vid cards, im still hard pressed to try and decide what to do cause my 9600pro is taking a dive for the worst. Cause lately the screen just randomly shuts off and then i have to reboot, oh so annoying after a while especially when in an instance on wow. Anyways im not a crazy gamer, im also not a person who enjoys having the graphics quality maxed (although it is nice sometime). Basically what would you recommend for an upgrade from a 9600pro, i myself was thinking maybe just get a 9600xt just to get since i dont do insane fps gaming. Either the 9600xt or the 6600 if i am able to sell my 9600pro on the For sale For trade forum or ebay, but i dont think that will happen so i may have to go with the 9600xt since all my money just went to a new case/psu and also a new mobo.
Any suggestions would be quite appreciated :)

I have a mild fear of buying refurbed, it prob is in good condition but still the thought of it being refurbed kinda gets to me

Its Newegg, no reason at all you should worried. If there's something wrong Newegg will replace it right away and they gurranty that all refurbs are NOT DOA. I've bought lots of items from Newegg that refurbs, havent had an issue yet.
 
I have bought 3 refurbed cards from newegg... never has there been a problem.

edit: oh and a refurb mobo too. ;)


Just be sure to stresstest the hell outta refurbs for those first 15 days. :D
 
Im kinda now reconsidering the whole scared of refurbed thing, 15days to return it seems like enough time to find out whether or not it works as it should. Oh one more thing how many pipelines does the 9800pro have cant seem to find out anywhere
 
8 pipelines.

There's no Nvidia card at that price point that'll give you near that performance. Cloest card is the 6600 which is slower, than you have the 6600GT, which is faster but another $60 and is only about 10%~20% faster than the 9800 Pro.
 
Aight the refurbed better not do me over, cause i think the 8 pipelines sold it straight to me so hopefully by weds i will have my new card
