9600GT hits Newegg!

You still have 29 more days to return the 8800GT don't you? I plan on buying 2 9600GT's this Sunday at BB.

are you going to be using them for your main system? i'm only asking since i see you already have 2 8800GTs.

looks like we'll be in for some reading come tomorrow morning :p

Bought it used, actually. Still, I managed an excellent price with an included Accelero S1 pre-installed, so I'm not complaining..

Was kinda counting on the 9600GT to be released late last week, though. Oh well. :)

This is good. It should help bring the 8800GT and HD3870 prices under $200. Then, we have more under $200 video cards to choose.

Awesome. Maybe this or one of the other soon to be released 9x00 series cards will swing me away from an 8800GTS or 8800GTX. Now I wait to see what comes next.

awesome price :)

the reviews i've seen pair it VERY favorably against the 8800gt and g92 gts :)

Wow, I can hardly believe that video cards are becoming affordable again.

And I spent $240 shipped on each of my 3870s a month ago. Now they're $190, arrrrggh.

lmfao!!! you even look at those charts? the 8800GS looses to the 9600GT in every single DX9 and DX10 benchmark there. yes they are very close, their only 20$ difference and the 9600GT just came out.

and if you look at the DX10 benchmarks the 8800GS looses by quite abit.

i would rather have 512mb then 384mb of vram these days.

if i were buying a GPU today in the ~200$ range i would get the MSI 8800GT 512mb for 220$ that comes with a nice 3rd party heatsink.

Curious, why does anyone want to buy this? It's 180. Some 8800GT can be found for around the same price. I can't figure out why people think this is a good deal. When it gets down to 150 range then it will be a awesome deal. Right now I would have to say the 8800GT is a better budget card.

Simple. It has a "9" in front of it.

Even though we all LOGICALLY see the performance Level and Price/Performance Ratio, there is something inside the average Geek (including me) that still Screams, ITS A NEW SERIES!!! WOOT!! MUST HAVE!!!

Next month is when the new $400+ dollar cards come out. My inner geek can't wait... but my more rational side can :p

9>8 !!!

I was looking forward to this card. If only it was a bit cheaper .....

I plan on testing 2 9600GT's in another rig of mines. Depending on how they perform, I might keep them.

Is there a sale going on BB this Sunday?

Also, between EVGA, Gigabyte, PNY and Leadtek (they are all $179), which is the better brand?

Just saw the Best Buy ad for this coming Sunday, they will have the BFG 9600GT for $199. The EVGA for $179 with Newegg is a better deal.

I'm about to buy one of these. Should I wait on a price drop?

Price will most likely go up than down for e-tailers (online stores). Places like Bestbuy will probably drop (or stay the same) as the online stores are cheaper.

Since my system has an ATI X1800XT, it shouldn't have any power supply issues with this card, right?

You think that Nvidia's prices (G92 and G94 series) won't go down in this proces when G100 and R700 comes?

Did I say that? Geez dude. I'm sure they will. I'm excited that ATi is already dumping their prices; it leads me to believe that something new/big is just around the corner. If the 8800GTX dropped down to $250 I'd be equally stoked.

Well 8800 GTX's price have dropped in Europe to 290€..those prices are sinking fast.

The 3870 has been under $200 the past few days. It got an official MSRP drop to $190.

Its amazing to see how the nvidia architecture destroys the HD 3000 from AMD

No, whats amazing, is your ignorance. But you post is about the norm for you. Did you even read the [H] eval? Couldnt have. The 9600GT is a fine card, generally a few frames faster than the 3870. Thats not "destroys". Not to mention, the differences in the cards, in things other than frames in a game.
