i'm looking for one of these cards at a resoanble price. i posted in for/sale...trade also but figured i would give here a shot as well. let me know what you have please.

read some other posts

if you can shell out about 200 bones get a 5900NU, or a 9700Pro

the only reason i add the nvidia card as i have seen 5900NU's at 5950Ultra's speeds

this all depends on what you can afford. if you can't go above $150-$160, then a radeon 9600 pro or 9600xt would be your best option. however, if you're ok up to $200, then you'll want to consider a geforce fx 5900 or a radeon 9700 pro. as a bias reccomendation, i'd go for the 9700 pro  .

I believe the 9700Pro stock is the best bet for long run (DX9) but I believe the 5900NU will oc like a bitch and far suprass the 9700Pro

I should have went with a 5900Ultra :-/ instead of the 9800Pro

guess i better stick with the 9600 xt.........wifey will shoot me if i spend to much.......if anyone know of a deal better than the one for 157 on newegg kindly let me know please

does the one at newegg come with hl2? I think i saw the 9600 xt at circuit city for 175 with hl2 coupon. Its an extra 20 bucks, but i think hl2 is worth it, plus you wont have to have it shipped. Maybe that was just a sale though

All ATI XT products should come with the hl2 coupon if they are retail boxed

Yep all retail XTs should come with HL2, so the newegg version won't because its OEM.

I just received my sapphire 9600XT, i must say, it is a bit upsetting buy for me. I am looking to return this for the radeon 9700pro. When comparing my 3dmark03 score with others it can't even beat the 9600PRO. Day of defeat, running 800x600,i can barely get constant 72fps. I ranges from 55-72 (I capped it at 72 with fps_max) in some areas.
By the way I did turn up the opengl settings to max in the ATI control panel. Still at 8x6 it really should still be able to handle constant 72 regardless...

welll if you find a good deal on the 9700 pro let me know please. apparently there are some probs. with the 9600

The only time I can see a drop in visual performance is when fps drop below 30fps.(which i never get, thats back with a gf2 mx400 64mb)

SO lurker if you play games at 1600x1200 yes you should be dissappointed, but if you play at 800x600 and you can TELL the diff between 50 and 70 fps... more power to you

Then again if you play at 1600x1200 you wouldnt settle for a budget card.

Remember were talking about budget cards now, so we cant expect stellar performance.

the 9600xt w/o hl2 is 150 and the 9800pro is about 300bux and the 9800pro is about 1.5x better than the 9600xt for 2x more

So thats why you have a "budget" card. THe most bang for you buck

Just got a GeXcube 9600XT from newegg for me little brothers PC. Was just a tad over $150, and has a 9800XT type heatsink on it, with ramsinks on the back.

It also came clocked slightly higher than normal on the ram. The core is the standard 500Mhz, while the ram is 650Mhz, not 600Mhz. On newegg's description it shows 600Mhz as the ram speed. Checked two different progs, both show 650Mhz. Oh well, slight speed increase is always good.

Did the GeXcube come with HL2 coupon?

I wanted to get that one, but wasn't sure if it had a HL2 coupon. Powercolor's website said the 9600XT will only bundle with HL2 until 12/31/03 according to ATI's policy (http://www.power-color.com/HL2.htm ) ... I was wondering if that applied to other manufacturers. I really wanted either the GeXcube or Powercolor with faster RAM.

No it didnt. It came with a full version of Black Hawk Down.
