9550, 9600 Pro or 9600XT (Looking for a mid-level card for overclocking/gaming)

Hey everyone, I am looking for a plan vanilla video card for overclocking/gaming. I plan to replace the stock cooling, as well as add ramsinks to the card. Which of these cards would be a decent mid-level card with some overclocking headroom?

The 9550 Given desent cooling can overclock past 9600 XT speeds. Either get 9550 or a 9600 XT.

Thats a decent 9550 overclock, the card is around 9600 pro/xt speeds.

Will the 9550 handle Doom 3 and Half-Life 2 alright?

It can prolly run HL2 ok, but Doom 3 it will struggle, you will probably have to run it at 800x600 Medium-high.

You could probably find a 9800 or 9700 on ebay for the same price as you would pay for a 9600XT new, so why not?
