9500 pro vs 9700 Pro

The 9700 is in a different class than the 9500's. For $30 you would be a moron not to take it.

I easily hit 22k 3dmark01 and almost 7k 3dmark03 with a pentium 2.4c based system back in the day. 425mhz core, which some 9500's can match, but 375mhz memory, which simply none of them can. Unless you have a cascade and lots of soldering skills. And even then, 9700 pro memory would be up around 405-410mhz.

My current 9700 pro (AIW) plays CS Source all day long 1600x1200 everything maxed. Never slows down on a secondary 3.2ghz system with 1GB generic memory.
difforent class?..they are the same axact cards practicly..just its underclocked..you can EASLY flash to a 9700pro with stock cooling

1. Only the NP flash. It is a different class between the pro's and 9700's.
2. The best 9700 pro is a LOT better than the best 9500np flashed.
3. The 9700 will 99% of the time perform better.
4. The memory on the 9500's is not the same NS and is inferior. Sometimes they even use infineon as opposed to the good Samsung. Remember how many people couldn't get above 300mhz with the shity infenion? 2.8ns to 3.3ns (or was it 3.2, not that it matters), hmmmmm
5. the cores on the 9700's are speedbinned. With all other factors being equal, the 9700's will for the vast majority out overclock the 9500's.
6. Best futuremark 01 score for 9700 card is 28000+. Thats done with watercooling and a tec. best for 9500 card is 26000, and thats done with dual vapochill LS's modded for stronger gas and more than 2.0v through the core.

wtf..you cant compair the 9500np..thats off topic..and YES the pros flash..i did it..i did it with a 9700pro BIOS..and it worked flawlessly...and i got a great boost in performance..and a little temperature increase

im not talking about the crap 9500pros they came out with later..im talking about the BUILT BY ATI 9500pros that came out right when the 9700pro did..and mine came with samsung ram...and it OCed like a mofo...

and if you bring up 9550..ill be mad...thoes are the laughing stock of ATI

lol i agree there, the somewhat i do know of video cards make me laugh on the 9550's...they ruined the title of 9500's

yup...you'd think the higher number is better :D ..nooo the 9500pro smoked a 9600pro... and the 9550 could barly smoke a 9200 ...ATI needs to learn how to name theyer products...

Umm, my 9800Pro can't even do over 350MHz memory so it's all subjective.

thats odd..what is it stock?..

BBA 9800 Pro, stock is same as every other 9800Pro, 380 core, 340 mem.
I have a 120mm fan blowing on the card but around 360 mem, lots of artifacts appear in ATi Tool.

do you know who makes your ram?

well i began it, i might as well end it. I have decided to stick with the 9500 Pro, because the 9700 Pro lagged CS Source form some reason. Thank you all for you help.

Thanks for wasting our time. It lagged cause you probably didn't install it correctly. It's a better card period.
And unequivocally should run that pos game better than your old card.
