interesting...

I guess you can do it if you dont mind giving up all your PCI slots.

True, though I wonder how well it cools the card compared to the vf900.

we need to find this insane man that did this and have him report his temps!

sweet.

I see he has a support beam for the video card. good idea.

would look cool if he had another 9500 on the cpu as well instead of the tt one.

9500 mod FTW!!!!

I would be curious to see what other cpu coolers you could do this with...im thinking something by scythe possibly

Good luck finding a case that would fit that...

That's really cool. Overkill, and makes the rest of your machine useless sure... but damn, it's pretty!

HAHA, yea...i was thinking about that. You could potentially make a cast that would mount the motherboard high enough that it would fit with the graphics card mounted like it is in a normal ATX case. You would need a good brace for it though like that guy did for the 9500.

why not just watercool?

Everything does not have to be watercooled. I have a zalmann resorator collecting dust over here. Sometimes good aircooling is just all around easier than water. Since it is a Lian Li V2000+ case the weight of the 9500 is used to its advantage.

I won't be doing anything this extreme, but I have been looking at a few low-profile CPU coolers for my X1800XT, something that packs some real cooling power but doesn't sound like a jet and won't block all my pci slots.

Mine isn't nearly as nice as NightCrawlers, but I put a Zalman 7000ALCU on my video card. It keeps my X1900AIW OC'd to 650/700 at around 60C load.

My thoughts exactly. VF900 has heatpipes too!
Looks like he also had to remove some fins.

I'm sure the cooling area of the 9500 is still far superior, as well as the fact that it has 6 simulated heatpipers compared to two.

Its cool to see this types of mods but I'd have to classify it as impractical. Does look cool though. :D
