I'm hoping it was an incorrect reading yet thats according to Speedfan. This on an e6400 that idles low 30's and loads high 40's and using a DS3 mobo. It happened after I fiddled with the MIT ('intelligent tweak') settings and put it on 'cruise'. After about 20 minutes into Oblivion, it crashed to the desktop. And there were the temps at 94c. I waited for it to go down but it wouldnt go below 60. Rebooted and turned the cruise setting off and temps went back to normal.

If that was an accurate reading, wheres the thermal protection, why didnt the CPU shut-down? Btw, this was on stock speeds, no OC, just that damned cruise thing. I hope I havent knocked off a few years off my CPU's lifespan... hmmm.

That reading is not accurate. Your chip would have fried at that temperature and never worked again. Try using the program called CoreTemp. It usually gives more accurate readings.
