939 in am2?

worth a shot though, the smoke show that results may be fun to watch :D

s939 procs are really tough. I had a friend who's heat sink was thermal epoxied on his proc. He pulled so hard that it yanked the proc right out of the socket. Only problem is that he didn't lift the release first. It worked fine in the next board.

I think the pin layouts of 939 and AM2 differ so you can't plug a 939 cpu into a AM2 board.

Socket AM2 has 940 pins, right?

In any case, AM2 boards use DDR2 memory. Socket 939 processors ony support DDR.

No, it won't work, for many reasons... The first one being that it won't even fit, not to mention completely different memory controller.
