930SB text blurriness?

Hi, I recently acquired a 930SB from dell, and it's fantastic so far, but I can't help but notice that text is blurry at the mid top and mid bottom of the screen. No amount of playing with the convergence or any other setting seems to fix it. I'm currently running at 1280x960 @ 100Hz. Is this something normal or did I get a defective monitor?

try to run at 1280x1024 at 85 hz just try it that is what I use

I readsomthing that pixels arent perfect at 1280x960 and at 1280x1024 they are


I dont get any blurring ness but there looks to be a little haze to the text or maybe this is just me because I was coming from the Samsung 710T lcd which had very clear and crisp text

Try running at 85hz. I tried running mine at that rez and 100hz and had the same problem. 85hz cleared things up a bit. I run mine at 1280x1024 @ 90hz.

Running it at 85Hz does seem to help quite a bit, thanks. Anyone know why that works?

if you are not satisfied call dell and they will deliver another one to you, it is worth a try and you cant go wrong

One of the damper wires could be misalined happens all the time with apature grille monitors

Play with the contrast/brightness.

I have to let you know that all those low end aperture grill monitors from NEC and Viewsonic have the same text blurriness problem at high resolution and high refresh rate.

They all seem ok at 1280x1024@75hz and lower as I have mentioned in another post.

They seem to only be good for gaming and watching movies.

No No the 930 is alot better than the p95. I dont get any bluryness on my monitor

Now it is not as crisp as the Samsung 710T lcd is text it is still very good

I went to best buy to test it out.

All of those monitors run just great at 1024x768 and below. Crisp text and everything.

Things start to go for the worse when you increase the res.

Here is what I have notice if you care for text:
- more blurry as refresh rate increase
- max enjoyable resolution is 1280x1024 @ 75hz
1152x864 @75hz or 85hz
1024x768 @ 85hz = best display / @100hz is like 1152x864@85hz
800x600 @ 85hz or 100hz (85hz is better though)

So, the absolute best for crisp text display is really 1024x768@85hz.

For games, you can go wild with the settings without being bothered too much.

This is the exact same malady my brand new 930SB suffered from as well. I bought it to run @ 1600x1200 but the blur on the lwoer portion of the screen drove me nuts. Running 1280x960 was not an option as I didnt drop the money to run at that low of a resolution.

Ultimately I returned the monitor (25% restock ) and bought a 20.1" BenQ 16ms LCD. I am now firmly on the LCD train.

Yeah, you did well by returning it.
All those high specs are just for show.
I got my P95f+ B over 2 years ago, and I have learned to live with it, but would certainly not buy it again. I am waiting till late fall to get 2 new LCDs (19" with 1600x1200) for a 3 screens setup and demote the CRT to just games and movies and the occasional color accuracy work, then sell my current LCD (it is a very good 17" with 1280x1024, but I need the LCDs to match).

Sounds like a bad 930SB, mine doesn't have any blurriness at 1600x1200@85Hz

could be, but sounds like a QC thing because there seem to be a number of people suffering from the exact same condition.

Regardless, the LCD is awesome and I couldnt be happier now.

If only I could find a x800xt...

No you ordered the best Under $500. There are sont crts that have a .22 dot but that would be alot better but it would run ya $1600-$2000

I love my 930sb and it is the best monitor ive ever used

It is just awsome


The text is not as good as my older Samsung 710T lcd but that monitors text reproduction was to good, I play alot of game and do photoshop and watch videos and stuff like that So i would rather have better image quality and in games and DVDS and such they are stunning

lol, what else would u expect from a low end monitor? a friend of mine had the same problem with that POS monitor, it is strange though that it seems to have such good ratings at newegg....

Maybe your friend and this guy just got a bad one.

Everybody else on these forums will tell you this monitor is the best.

Ummm...the 930SB is far from low end. I own one, I know. Maybe Mitsu is having some QC problems, but mine is near perfect. Only problem with mine is that it doesnt deguass if you turn it on before the computer.
