i've seen a few people on here who state that the 920 is a more overclockable cpu than the 930, i'am just about to hit the buy botton on a 930 D0 SLBKP Bloomfield from scan £210.52 but i could get 920 D0 for £218.61 off ebuyer

can someone put me straight on what one will oc the most please

My opinion is that the 930 was being compared to the earlier batches of 920's, when the 930 wasn't around.

Right now I'd just get the 930 for the higher multiplier. I think they are essentially the same CPU. I hope you get a good one!

unless the 920 is guaranteed from a good batch, it's a complete toss up. if you wanted a higher chance at better binning, might just want to go with the xeon W3520/W3530 (though they do cost a little more and are essentially the same).

For that price difference, definitely get the 930. basically, the 930 is usually more overclockable over 4Ghz. If you do not plan on going that high, then get the 920.

Its a toss up as to whether or not the CPU will actually overclock as high as you want without being forceful with voltage.

But, from those choices, I would go with the 930.

i will definitely consider the 950 as i need to find a case that will fit 5970 and watercooling before i buy anything

thankyou
